Be on the APATX19 Committee

Get involved and help shape the conference by volunteering to serve on the APATX19 Conference Committee! Below are several ways you can volunteer for the APATX19 conference. 

Program and Sessions Committee

  • Determine and coordinate overall conference sessions/tracts and speakers

  • Review and rank all session proposals

  • Provide info for requesting CM credits and conference brochure

  • Obtain Session and Speaker’s PowerPoint files in advance of conference

  • Work with Student Volunteers to load presentations onto laptops prior to sessions. Load all presentation PPT files onto laptops in breakout rooms at 7:00 – 8:00 am on Thursday and Friday

  • After the Conference, provide all presentation PPT files to Chapter Communications Tech for uploading on the Chapter website

Local Host Committee - Chair Clint Peters

Short Course Committee

  • Coordinates planning commissioner sessions/ tracts and speakers

  • Works closely with program subcommittee

  • Work with program subcommittee to load presentations onto laptops prior to sessions

  • Work with Students/Volunteers Subcommittee to distribute Conference and Session Evaluation forms to participants

Mobile Workshops Committee

  • Develop and coordinate mobile workshop ideas, speakers and schedules

  • Make arrangements for workshop destinations and tour guides

  • Prepare routes and schedules for mobile workshops

  • Prepare handout sheet or booklet for mobile workshops

  • Develop scripts for on-board narration

  • Provide info for requesting CM credits and conference brochure

  • Identify transportation needs

  • Provide refreshments and beverages including ice chests for mobile workshops

  • Manage check-in and boarding for workshop participants

  • Collect evaluation survey forms from workshop participants

Sponsors and Exhibitors Committee

  • Contact sponsors and exhibitors from previous conferences using the Chapter's Master List

  • Recruit new sponsors and exhibitors

Social Events

  • Assistance with the day-of coordination of the Wednesday Opening Reception and Thursday Evening events planning (food, entertainment, etc)

 

Student Activities and Volunteers Committee

  • Develop special activities and conference programs for students

  • Communicate with Student Planning Organizations at Texas universities to encourage student participation in the conference

  • Recruit, assign and manage student volunteers for registration, ticket takers, session monitors, photographers, etc.

  • Prepare volunteers data base including name, mailing address, e-mail, cell phone, job assignment and confirm performance

  • Manage student volunteers check-in and check-out

Social Media/Engagement Committee

  • Prepare monthly newsletters about conference

  • Work with Communications Tech to update social media and website

  • Assist with working the Engagement Booth at the Conference

  • Assist by posting on social media platforms before and during the conference
